SHOPPING
In the town of Cambridge you will find some of the best shopping opportunities in the entire region. It doesn´t matter if your after department stores or designer shops, you'll find everyhing here. The bursting city centre market square full of activity, each day of the week there is a market at the heart of Cambridge's shopping district. Grafton shopping centre is only a couple of minutes away and between them is a wealth of individual and national outlets to meet each persons´ need.
PARKS
Jesus green is on the northern part of the city centre and is in between the River Cam, Jesus College and Victoria Avenue. It is basically open parkland grass, where students go to, to hosts informal and formal outdoor activities for students and other people.
Christ's Pieces, has a typical Victorian park design with tree-lined avenues.
Paradise is a low lying reserve when it enters the City, on the northern side bank of the River Cam. It is a fragment of semi-natural habitat to all kinds of birds and animals, making a visit well worth your while.
One of the best known open spaces popular by students in Cambridge is called Parkers Piece. This park can be found in the centre of the City and is bordered by Park Terrace, Parkside, Regent Terrace and Gonville Place.
The park called Lammas Land is located to the South West of the City and lies about a kilometer from the city centre. Look for a green spot on the map between Causeway and Newnham Road.
Interesting fact is that during the First World War, this area had been used as allotments. Than in the 1920's the rights of common land were abolished and the terrain became destined for passive recreation for student and other people.
